Further booking information and tips for the main tourist events in Antholz:
Ferragosto:
From July 15th to September 6th, Italy goes on summer vacation. During this time, traffic jams from the metropolitan areas of the Po Valley inevitably flood into Antholz — every year without fail. This period is not recommended for those seeking peace and quiet. We suggest avoiding these "city-dweller weeks."
Additional info: The two middle weeks of August are reserved for returning guests. Inquiries for stays during these two weeks are generally not accepted.
New Year's Eve and Settimana Bianca (White Week):
From December 26th to January 7th, prices are high and the roads, slopes, shops, and restaurants are extremely crowded. Those who can, tend to avoid this period — until January 7th, when the "Befana Witch" comes and the people of Milan, Rome, Bologna, and beyond fly back to their factories and offices in the big cities.
Biathlon as a Religion!:
The faithful followers of the Antholz Biathlon World Cup pilgrimage every year on the Sunday of the second week of January to Lake Antholz — the mythical birthplace of biathlon. This sporting festival has almost sacred status among its huge, loyal fan base. Around 70,000 live spectators annually fill half of South Tyrol during World Cup week and flock daily to Lake Antholz.
The Biathlon celebrations continue until the third Sunday in January, when the traveling caravan departs for Nove Mesto.
If you dare to venture into this "lion’s den" and want to experience stars like Dahlmeier, Wierer, and Boe against the backdrop of the Rieserferner mountains under the legendary "Antholz weather" — and even stay in the Hellweger Apartments — you can contact our long-standing partner and biathlon insider Christiane Bauer of Biathlon Travel - Mike Semisch to inquire about an apartment (Take a look: Link).
Inquiries for the Biathlon World Cup are exclusively handled by Biathlon Travel.
