The Antholz Valley
The Village of Antholz Mittertal
With its 800 residents, the village offers accommodation for nearly 400 tourists. Despite its breathtaking scenery and ideal location between Kronplatz, the Biathlon Stadium, the Rieserferner National Park, and the popular Lake Antholz, the booming South Tyrolean tourism industry of the past 30 years has largely passed over Antholz. Large hotels didn’t settle here, and tourism developed slowly and gently—a blessing and a curse at the same time.
Nevertheless, the village offers everything its residents and visitors need, and more. Alongside a variety of shops, a bank, a hairdresser, and several restaurants, the village square of Mittertal, the "Piazza," charms visitors with the cozy atmosphere of a mountain village. It invites you to soak in the alpine ambiance with a macchiato on the terrace of one of the two cafés.
Antholz-Mittertal serves as the ideal starting point for cross-country skiers, hikers, and skiers looking for affordable accommodation. The blend of Italian flair and Tyrolean tradition can also be impressively enjoyed in restaurants, during religious festivals, or at one of the many mountain pastures surrounding the village.
